Startup Braga will support entrepreneurship projects in the area of Sustainability. The announcement was made by Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga, during the opening ceremony of Unique Summit, which runs until tomorrow at Altice Forum Braga.

"In addition to projects in the fields of biotechnology, nanotechnology, health sciences and information technology, we will consider in the various incubation and acceleration programs the sustainability component because we believe this is a way to accelerate economic projects in this area, Ricardo Rio explained, during the session that counted with the presence of Rui Vieira de Castro, rector of the University of Minho, António Cunha, president of CCDR-N, António Dias Martins, executive director of Startup Portugal, and Arturo Villar Menéndez, CEO and founder of the international network Global Startup Cities.

Created as a technological innovation hub of InvestBraga, Startup Braga is dedicated to supporting high-potential entrepreneurial projects to reach international markets and create their business models. "We will not change the core of Startup Braga's activity, what we will do is broaden the scope of our intervention to the field of Sustainability. In these years we have tried to bring in companies from the areas of strategic vectors considered a priority and develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Now we will also support companies linked to the Sustainability area and this will require from us a reinforcement of means to involve other companies in our several programs of creation, acceleration and incubation of startups", guaranteed the Mayor.

With more than 70 confirmed speakers, Unique Summit counts more than 400 participants from some of the main entrepreneurial ecosystems in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

Until tomorrow, the event will have talks and round tables that will debate the evolution of the entrepreneurial ecosystem on a global scale, bringing some of the key players in areas such as investment, technology, cities and territory, mobility, bioeconomy, agrotech, or social innovation.

The Unique Summit allows startups, cities and R&D centers to present their potential in the Global Innovation Area, a space through which all entities present will pass throughout these days.
